Hello!

Maybe I'm not asking this in the correct manner, but it would be nice to get an answer.

I am building the site for a famous musician who has over 200 album credits to his name, all on Discogs.com.

The way I can add albums to his feed is by

A- adding the artist manually in the "Artists" section
B- Searching for my guy on the discogs.com album section and adding the album results "manually".

It would be nice if this component were to display a simple feed of the search results with his name on them and save me a ton of time adding these all manually.

Any response is appreciated. I gotta get this done, and I was led to believe that this software could do the job.

Thank you!

    hi,

not sure if I follow 100%

when you search for this artist name on our Music Collection backend (connected to discogs), you get results for albums, correct?
doesn't it work for you to import any album you need by saving it, after hitting the "Get release data" button?

The artist is Tony Braunagel. He's a drummer/singer, producer and arranger/songwriter. He performs those tasks on the discography listed when you search his name.

When I go to add albums to the component, the "artist name" will be either "Tony Braunagel" (as defined by me) and the album name is whatever the "album name" feed info is.

What I need for this to do is allow me to add multiple albums, pulling the "Artist" name from the API on Discogs.com so that I don't have to go and add manually the artist name for the hundreds of releases he's on.

What would be easiest is to grab an XML feed for the search results of "Tony Braunagel" on Discogs.com. It may not even require the use of your component for this job.

All I want to do is have the search results for "Tony Braunagel" display in a list (preferably with album covers) and a few other scant details (Album artist, Album name, Year released, Label would be sufficient).

Since Discogs.com has an API and makes these hooks available, how hard would it be to incorporate that? Even to create a simple XML parser for this info would make your component more valuable to not just me, but to many people.

I've included the search string that I need to get a RSS feed for.
