Hi,

1) Is this compatible with Jomsocial 2.2 ?
2) Do I need to pay royalties to the record labels etc for up loading my albums?
3) The album covers feature ? how do you obtain the album covers for my uploaded albums?

Thanks for your help
Russ

    1) yes
    2) this does not depend on us. we sell a software to manage music. the music you put in it it's up to you, we don't have anything to do with taht... I guess if you have the rights, you can do it!
    3) you upload it manually. optionally, there's a BETA function on the DISCOGS api (included) that downloads the pitures for you.

    Hi Germi,
Looks like you got yourself a new customer !!! Two quick questions, can I stop people downloading the albums/tracks that get up loaded ? Also how does the download track part of things work ? can I link that directly to say itunes and get an affiliate commission, I know I would have to join there affiliate programme but could each album thats up loaded be directly linked to itunes to buy?

    Thanks for your reply,
    Kind regards

Well, you disable the downloading option if you want. But, at some point, if the user is "smart enough" he'll be always able to find a way to download the file...

The BUY NOW button is just a link you can use to send the customer somewhere else to purchase the song/album. Of course, if you have an iTunes affiliate account, you can use e link to send the customer to iTunes, no problem

You have to write the links one by one, though.

    Best,
    Germi

    I'm afraid there's not.
To allow this we would need to write a custom import script just for that case...it would be complicated..
So, no,you can't do this out of the box, sorry...

Ok no problem ! Could you write a custom script that when you clicked on the "buy now" icon it loaded up itunes and automatically posted the album title in to the itunes search box and hit enter ? like a batch file? If not no probs but it would be a handy feature I would pay extra for !

yes we could do that as custom coding work (I asume that iTunes can be accessed by clickin an URL and posting a search into it.. right?)

in any case, this is a personalized custom work we woudl do for you (so you should contact us about this through the CUSTOM SERVICE form after you already own the software)

maybe you can first play around with Music Collection, and then contact us about the customized features you want to add.

    what you think?

    Hi,
Just been looking at storage space to up load the music on to. My ISP charges £18 a year per gigabyte extra which would cost a small fortune. Would it be possible to have all the albums stored on Amazon S3 cloud server and link my web template on my web site to them ? Having the albums stored in a different location would be a lot cheaper. Would this be hard to do? to re program where the music is stored? yet still keeping the the template interface on my web site ? would the tracks still stream or would there be a delay, latency?

    Thank you

music can be streamed from external server, yes. amazon S3 too, I think, but I never tried myself. I know a lot of users in our site do (you can search on the forum). it is possible that you need a tweak on the player to allow RTMP streaming from amazon s3, tho.

anyway, there won't be delay, latency, etc, I think. it shouldn't.

(but you will still have to add your songs one by one, I mean, putting the link to the amazon in each song..)

    it's very easy:

go to your menu manager, and create a new menu item inside your main menu

    there, you just select
    Music Collection -> ARTISTS

that is the MAIN page of music collection.

to add content to this particular page, you can use the INTROTEXT fields you will find on the component parameters (button at the top right corner on the administrator of music collection)

before doing that, is a good idea to start populating your site with some artists and albums...
