Hi,

i think this extension is very great but i must know some things bevor i buy it :)

I'm creating at the moment a music site and want to show a lot of albums with tracklists, artist biographies and so on.

What i need is a extension to manage all the data.
The situation is like this:
i have 5 sections (music genres), in every section i have the same named categorys (alphabetic groups like A-D, E-G and so on)and in this categorys i have the appendant articles. So a example: Rock music (section) -> A-D(category) -> "Rock Artist with the correct first letter"

Then i have a menu structer for the music genres, so you click on Rock music and then there should be a overview about all artists in this genre (this overview is attached) and then you can click on any artist and you see then the albums, tracklists and so on.

Is this possible with the extension?
I hope you can understand what i mean
Best regards,

    hello
in our extension, the artists are also classified by first letter, and there's a very customizable genre management system. all you want to do is included in Music Collection, but not following the (very specific!) hierachy that you are saying.

for instance, genres are associated to songs and albums, not to artist (because an artist can have songs or albums of different genres).

the main classification is under artist's first letter, JUST LIKE YOU CAN SEE IN THIS VERY SITE.

I suggest you to take a deep look in this site (Music Collection Demo area) and see all of what Music Collectino is capable of. I'm pretty sure you can adapt your needs to Music Collection structure.

also, take a look at our Features section, where you can see, for instance, how the genres are managed

    best,
    Germi

thanks germi for the quick answer.

i read all the features and looked at the demo page but i have some question, anyway :)

Is it possible with the filter to show all artists of one genre? I tried this on the demo page but i dont get any results. i have to write someting in the artist filter. What i like to see is that some who want to see all, for example pop artists, can select the genre filter for pop and see then all albums they are in the pop genre. is this possible?

The other question is, can i link from a menu item to a genre? so that i can set a parameter that he show only one selected gerne.

it would be great if you can answer one of my questions with yes :)

    Thank you for your help.

->again, genres are related to albums or songs, not artists.

What i like to see is that some who want to see all, for example pop artists, can select the genre filter for pop and see then all albums they are in the pop genre. is this possible?
-> well, it's true that on the demo you have to write something on the text field (that is done this way to avoid a query with no filters, so the result can be very big). so in your case, what you'd need is to allow queries with the text filter blank. this is not implemented currently, but 1) it is very easy to implement doing a small modification on a file, and 2) on the next release we are working on, we'll add this option (to allow or not search querys with the text field empty)

-> there's not "genre view" itself, the only views available (for linking from a menu, I mean) are artist, album, song or search.

you can achieve what you want by making a menu item link that points to the search view, specifing the variables you want (the genre_id in this case). If your are familiar to joomla you'll find it easy

yes, you can contact us for the modification

to create the menu item for the genre, I can tell you quickly how to do it when you have the component installed.

but remember, to make this menu item work you need the small code modification I told you about. to make this modification, we can do it though our Custom Service (http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/en/custom-service.html) for a small amounth

I think our extension will work fine for your site :)
