Module assignment not working

0
Hello: Hope you guys are all doing well.

I have the following problem: I assigned Muscol modules to my site's frontpage (menu item: home), but the modules are showing up in the component's pages despite settings. I assigned itemid to the modules and tried to reverse settings (on all pages except those selected) but had no luck.

Can anyone help me with this? If this has been answered on some other post please point me in the right direction. I tried but did not find something similar in the forum. Many thanks.

if this happens, means that internal Music Collection pages are actually linked to the homepage as well..! I mean, the Menu item ID is the same, that is why this happens...! do you know what I mean?

I'm sorry but I have no idea what you mean

Should I change the component's actual itemid (136) to different number?

Something I noticed, by the way, is that your genre links have theis url format http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/index.php?option=com_muscol&view=search&search=albums&genre_id=10&Itemid=53&lang=es

    Mine are like this http://www.lobotoradio.com/en/initium?search=albums&genre_id=2

Don';t know if this means anything but had to share it with you.

no, the genre thing is not because of that..
no, I don't mean you have to change the itemid, I mean that you have to use this number, 136, on the music collection configuration, where it says "default itemid"

Hi Germinal: I get it, but adding an itemid to Muscol has absolutelly no effect on anything as far as I can see. 136 is there now and muscol just does not behave the way it should. Mostly.

    BAD CURRENT BEHAVIOR
    1) Muscol url's are not sef.
    2) Modules show up on pages they are told not to show up when urls are SEF. If links are not SEF (component/muscol) modules do as they are told.
    3) Genre links display no results
    4) Songs List pagination is empty before 20 results (this I just noticed).

    GOOD BEHAVIOUR SO FAR
    1) Letter Bar and Discography links are SEF

At this point one of the itemids (136) is set in Muscol parameters. I removed itemids from modules but except for creating SEF links it didn't have any effect on the bad behaviors listed above.

I'm setting the itemid again in modules in order to have sef links.

Thanks for all your help so far and I'm sorry for being such a pain in the butt. I'm sure all these problems are due to some minor bull.

    hm... this is strange. ok.
can I have backend access to your site? I'll check that everything is fine and try to figure out why you're having this problem.

Hey Nelson, this was a long time ago and I have upgraded to Joomla 3 since then but I'll help you in any way I can. In Joomla 3 module assignment is not better than in 2.5. It's a pain, especially since my web is multilingual. What is your problem?

the problem is that modules that I want to display on the homepage only, are being displayed on other pages too.. I have set muscol as my homepage with ID 241.. I put this ID on the muscol component, and in all the modules but still the module on the homepage shows up in the internal pages.. like Germinal said, it seems like the muscol modules are linked to the main menu, but I can't figure out how to un-link them..
