How do you upload music?? Ive created albums, put in artists, album art etc...but I cant find any option that lets me actually upload music to the freakin site! When I go to "Add New Song" it just asks me for song info but wont let me upload anything.

    hello,

first of all, use Keithplayer isntead of dewplayer

second, check that the songs have really ebn upload. maybe you didnt give the "songs" folder writing permission?

Ok, how do I check the "ebn" upload of the songs, on how do I give the songs folder writing permission?

Because one way I did it was to use the component, and "add songs" to add songs and that didnt work, and I also went into the backend and put songs into the songs folder manually and that doesnt work. Sorry for the inconvience.

sorry, "ebn" is for "been" ;) check that the songs have BEEN uploaded

to check the permission of the folder, you can use an FTP client. do you have one? do you use Cpanel or similar?

you shold not upload the songs manually, but use the MC song form

Okay, I use Cpanel, and changed the songs folder permissions to 777.

I deleted all of the songs that I uploaded manually, and I use the song upload form. It shows that I have a song uploaded on the Jommla end, but when I check back in the songs folder, nothing has uploaded there, so I am assuming the songs folder is not in the correct place.

^That is the root directory I thought I was supposed to create...Is this wrong?

    yes, that directory is correct.

just to be sure, open the PARAMETERS (on MC's backend) and check that songs folder is set to "songs". be sure to SAVE and try again

    hello,

looking at your site, I see this: the song that is trying to play is

    http://www.kookoutkris.com/songs/songs/when-amazing-happens.mp3">http://www.kookoutkris.com/songs/songs/when-amazing-happens.mp3

notice that double "songs" folder.. that is a mistake.

did you write something on the keithplayer parameter "songs server" ? (this should be empty!)

and I if I access http://www.kookoutkris.com/songs/ what I see is a song called When Amazing Happens.mp3, but this must be uploaded manually for you (MC does not saves the files in lowercase names)

it really whould be working. go to the song backend form and upload the song again. if it still not working, send me an admin username and password and I'll try to do it myself, and I'll check all your parameters to see what you have wrong

    cheers,
    Germi

    hello,
I tryed myself and got no problem at all! I've added a test song, and the file uploaded just fine! look:

    http://kookoutkris.com/music.html?view=album&id=3

I bet the problem is this...: you have the file maximum upload size set to 2M !!! I bet you file is bigger... so it's PHP who does not let you to upload it!! ;)

you can see the value of the variable "upload_max_filesize" on help->system info->php information

just search the variable and you'll see how it is set to 2M. just increase this size and everything will work fine

do to this, you'll have to enter your Cpanel and change the value of the PHP variable (usually it is defined on the php.ini file)

if you need any more help on this tell me so ;)

    Germi

Ive uploaded a good # of songs, but for some reason their are certain songs that wont upload and send me back to the front-end administration panel of Joomla! Ive re-dl the songs, changed the names, manipulated the file...I dont understand, but whenever I try to upload the songs it kicks me out of the Music Collection

hm... are big files? (I mean, be sure these are not excedding the max_upload_size you already increased)

maybe this has something to do with some other PHP variables, like..:

    post_max_size
    max_input_time
    upload_max_filesize

tell me what values do you have, or just to increase them a little

    I bet it must be post_max_size... :)
