I would like to remove this.

    Can't you just set the menu to Artists? I have the search fields displayed that way but without any albums showing up.

    I hope I'm understanding your question correctly.

    I suggest go to your menu item and click on "change type". Then click on the Artists -> default. See if this is what you're looking for.
