Album covers get overwritten. Bug

0
I have noticed this before so I started over from scratch, but yet again sometimes the album covers get overwritten.

You can see this at the testsite Testsite band I you can see the first few artist albums all have the wrong covers!
They have gotten the covers from the N section of the site.

I didn't checked them all its over 4000 albums but probably more of them are effected, before I started over it was also al over the site...!
I am still using an old version (2.4.11 ) so maybe this is all ready sorted in mc3.0 but i am still testing that one. Its a pain to get it up and running with my rocket theme I use...

Hopefully you can help me out...??

I'm not sure to see what you mean..

can you point me specifically to an example that can illustrate this? an album showing a cover which doesn't belong to it....

    Hi Germinal,

If you go to the link provided in the first post, you com on the page with artists starting with an I.
The first one is "I shall Move The Earth" but it has the cover from the band "Norther" second is band "Iced Earth" and have all covers from also bands starting with an N, this goes on until the band "Impalers"

Here the link again Testsite bands I with N covers

what you're describing is very weird. Are you saying that in the backend, where you manage your albums... this album http://testsite.no-ip.org/bands-nl/i/1260-i-shall-move-the-earth/3577-blueprints-mmxiii-ep has a different image associated to it?
this just doesn't seem possible....! ;)

you're telling me that in the "image" field for this album, the value is something else than "15835.gif" (which is the name of the picture for Norther)

No in the backend the image is also the one from the band norther...
But that's happened afterwards, in the beginning it was an other gig # with the right picture.

but.. the system can't change this by itself..! this must be someone that changed it.

the system does not just replace the image from an album for another album..! it would be crazy.. there's no function that does this or anything even remotely similar to this in the system. If the image is that one (in the backend), somebody put it there...

Nobody has acces to it I am still working local on this, just put it on the test server for showing it to you..

Maybe its like this: The local albums dir (on xampp server) in filzilla has not the 755 read/ wright I just noticed, so can it be that MC overwrite the image without warnings??

but overwrite how..? there's no overwrite function in music collection. the only function that "sets" the album picture is when you click SAVE on the album form and the value gets saved..

there's no function whatsoever that would "randomly interexchange some pictures with others"..! there's nothing like that..

    Very strange indeed..
wish the gif files got some name with part of the album in it....
going to search all gif's if there is still a cover from the I shall move the earth band... will let you know if i can find the original one...

I already found even more albums with the wrong cover.

So I have checked the dir albums to find the cover for the "I shall move the earth" album its not in there..
I than checked how many pictures are in the albums dir its only 3898 covers.
If I check the site and generate an pdf its 4083 albums on there,so missing 185 covers, and probably I have 185 albums with the wrong album covers.

This is how I ad the albums.
I crate an folder for the album, tag the album with Tag&Rename and include the cover in the files, and its in the album directory also as Folder.jpg.
After that I copy the album to the songs dir and let MC scan for it using "scan for id3 tags" the album gets created with an xxxxx.gif as cover.

this import method is fine, but the picture will be taken from inside the ID3 tags..

is the picture correctly set there? I mean, to have a .jpg file inside the folder does not get imported by MC...

Yes I know the picture is taken from the ID3 tags from the file, this picture is correct for the album.
Just double checked it in tag&rename.
The picture inside the folder is just there for my music player (MusicBee)

Still the only thing I can imagine what happens is that somehow MC is using sometimes the same numbers again for new gifs??

Maybe you want backend access to the test site..?

    Still having this problem...
Please check out my site, and you can see it.
I have just imported my local database into the site. and did not upload the album covers yet for the new artist/albums.
As you can see (look at the carousel) some of the new albums have already a albumcover.

    Hi Germinal,
Sorry for late response but was last week busy with my own metal festival :)

This one did not yet got resolved, Its always different with how many albums are effected now its about 5 albums.
I now do always a workaround: uplaod new album covers and see how many are already on the server (the ones who are overwritten) note down their numbers, go back to my local setup and check / change the affected albums and than upload album covers and database again to live site.

I cant seem to find any logic in the wrong covers, but most of the time its a few covers that are chronological in my database. Also chronological overlapping artist. For example the last one from artist X and than the first 2 of artist Y

Yes always after automatic scan import. As far as I have experienced it until now only covers created automatically are affected, so far none of the albums I uploaded manually are overwritten.
