500 error

0
I have created a menu link for "artists -> default layout" so that my customers can search by song name.

At the top of this is the A-123 search bar that allows you to view by all the A's, B's, or C's.

If you click on any of them, and select a particular band name, it will take you to a screen with a 500 error

You may not be able to visit this page because of:

an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
a mistyped address
you have no access to this page
The requested resource was not found.
An error has occurred while processing your request.

I saw another poster further down in this forum who mentioned a 500 error on his page, but our circumstances do not seem similar, i tried the suggestion of making sure my folder is called "artist" and not "artists" but im not sure what else i am missing?

no, do not change any "artits" to "artist".

are you using some kind of SEF?

post a link to your site so I can check it

strangely enough i figured out why it was happening, just don't know how it can be fixed?

I only get the error when using google chrome.

If i use Mozilla Firefox 3, the error does not happen.

    Very odd...

    Germi,

Do you know why the 500 error occurs?
    1. The error only occurs after retreiving the artist page. Strange thing is that is does not occurs always.
    2. It occurs only in IE and not in Chrome, FF or Safari.
    3. Once the error is on the screen al the other artist screens are also 500

I check "everything": CCS, code, copy-pasted default.php in same directory as grid.php.

    Please help...

    Example: http://www.ipod2000.com/muscol/p/placebo.html

    Thanks!

well, I have an idea. you have to tell me what exact 500 error do you get. what does it say?

I bet it says "detailed layot not found". am I right?

the cause for this is that for some reason (usually some kind of cache, I dont know if SEF's or other), and the browser keeps a hidden variable, "layout", with the value "detailed". anyway, I dont want to get technical here, no need to  I dont even know if that's the error

anyway, if that is the error, there's a fast and efficient solution for it: just copy the file

    /components/com_muscol/views/album/tmpl/default.php

into the same folder, but change its name to detailed.php

    with whit should be enough

of course, good browsers dont do that.. it's only fricki'n explorer... S: :S I hate it!!!!!

    Germi,

I already did the copy-paste of the default page. It still occors.

By the way, the message is: "500 - Layout "form" not found". Any idea?

    Thanks!

ah.... so strage... "form" layout is only for the backend..

anyway, you can make the same thing I told you, but name the file form.php instead of detailed.php

    Germi,

We did it! I copy pasted for every 500 error I got. So I copied and renamed to
form.php, blog.php and blog_album.php in de artist and artists directory.

Now the problem is solved. Thanks again!

    Greetings
    Dave
