NO Validation on creating a song

0
I am starting to feel bad that I purchased this component. I am going to request my money back. At first I thought it was very well made but it has many bugs.

List of bugs:

1. User is able to create a song with no information and the song is created without uploading or adding any content. NO validation. Plus the end user does not have any options to create his own album or song - he just picks from whatever the admin has populated the DB with.

2. The letter bar shows all albums no matter what letter you choose.
I choose A and Egnima shows up.

3. The playlist is horribly designed and it stops playing a song within seconds. I am on my own server and it has issues.

4. Album graphics do not show up. If they do show up they do not all display.

5. I uninstall the MC from my website and now I cannot get back in the website without having several PHP errors. It does not totally uninstall. Piece of JUNK.

I have only tested this for 2 days and I am sure there are other bugs. I want my money back. I will be looking elsewhere.

Sad Regards http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/images/fbfiles/images/JUNK.png

I am just a user, and yes the component does need a little work, but thought I throw out a few suggestions from a users point of view based on your list.

    1. One can create an album, and yes they don't need to upload songs to do so. This becomes very useful when one might not have a full album, or have permission to stream a full album. For example, a business site might only have the permission of an artist to stream only a few of their songs. You can still list all the tracks and all the info, but only the songs that you loaded mp3s next to would have a play button. That way the user can still see the full track listing.

I don't know which version of this component you have, but if you have the Community versions, then yes you can allow the user to create artists, as well as create albums and upload songs. If you log into this site you can see a section on the right under "Community demo tools" that allow for this.

    2. The letter bar is just for ARTISTS. So if you click on A, if you have it setup correctly, it will just show the artists that start with the letter A, in your screen shot that would be AC/DC. As far as I know it isn't designed to be used to limit albums or songs.

Also on your screenshot, the alignment issues have to do with your template. Being that each template deals with how they treat CSS lists the look can be different. Yes, I think he could do this part differently to get a more universal result, but a simple edit of your letter.css would fix this as it is just basic CSS. I would check your padding or margins.

    3. Yeah the playlist timing could be done better, especially on windows systems, but even that is fairly easy to fix with the code that is listed on this forum. I had the same issue, and just had to uncomment a line and made sure I put in the correct song durations. http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/en/forum/version-2/song-playback-problem-3.html#5405

    4. Haven't seen any reports other than yours on the album graphic issues, and I spend a lot of time on this site looking at forums and other users sites to get ideas. I think I recall germi mentioning he would look into it. He usually addresses most issues within a day or two, typically quicker. Though this month hes on vacation so hes been a little slow at responding.

    5. I have uninstalled and reinstalled mc a few times, mainly when I first started. My issue was that I was new to using joomla, and being that this component required joomla required me to learn it. And yes I screwed things up on my end quite a few times learning how to play nicely with both this component and with joomla lol. If you get errors when you uninstall the component or when you install it, you may want to list them here. That way they can be addressed.

I will be honest, it took me a few days to figure out how to use this component and how to use joomla in general. The part I found the most annoying is how different templates deal with the layout and that this component likes to be to free with how it works with other templates, instead of hard coding different styles. The upside of this is that it works with almost all templates, the downside is that it does require some css styling both on the component level and on the template level to get it to look just right.

Anyways, that's just my 2 cents, hope it helps. If you have a link to your site, I wouldn't mind looking at your artist bar issue. I bet its probably just 1 small change in the letters.css or the template css to fix to get the padding to look right with the template.

    @iamdavinci:

    1) what you mean? user can create his own album or song, o course! there's no validation, thats true

    2) man, you're using it wrong. the letter if for ARTIST name. when you click on A, artists by "A" show up. then you click on an artist (ACDC on this case, my friend, which begins by A) and you see its albums!!! isnt this logincal? the AZ bar is for ARTISTS, not albums. didnt you try our live demo????

    3) well I can't answer this point because I dont see a question. what does it mean the playlist is horribly designed? and once more: didnt you try our demo?

    4) this is a point I already offered to help you solve on another thread. is the only problem I see here, really

    5) it does uninstall totally. just the database remains, but that has no effect. maybe you forgot to uninstall some MODULE or something. behave your manners.

Please do not tell me to behave my manners - I'm old enough to be your grandfather - refund my money. Your software has bugs and it is not worth the money I spent for it. I have worked with DB's and IT for over 20 years and with Joomla for the past 3 years so I know what I am doing. All MC modules were uninstalled.

Egnima does not start with an "A" - ACDC does. Those are the ARTISTS that were setup in the back end. I followed the instructions to allow front end user to upload their own albums/artists and when you say "create" they should be able to upload and create their own artist/album and not have to choose from what is already inputted by admin.

Seriously this is not for me.

I realize the CSS issues and all but when I pay that much for a component I want it all to work 100%.

I am on a Linux system not Windows.

Bottom line - Refund my money.

    1) I'm the forum admin, so I can tell you to behave your manners. the sentence "Piece of JUNK." is not welcomed on this forum

    2) I knoe Enigma does not start with an A. I told you, you were seeing the ACDC artist there (thats why the A letter is marked), so you were seeing ALL acdc album, no matter what letter does the album begin with again, the letter refers to artist NOT album.

    3) looks like you didnt take a look at the parameters, as it is said on installation instructions. if you go to parameters, you'll see there's one that says: "Frontend users can only add albums by artists they created". if you switch this option you'll get the behavior desired.

again, I offered you my support but you didnt send me no access data. If I see this errors you talk about I'll be able to help you get ride of them (includeing the thumbnail not showing), I cant see them because you dont show me. I need to see them live to know what the problem is.

I can't refund your money because you won't let me help you. if you give me access I'll solve all the issues and tell you why they were happening. if we cannot solve, then we can refund you.
but we can't refund you unless you let us help you

PS: our software IS secure and its NOT full of bugs. its just some missconfiguration issues you got there, that can be solved.

    1) Okay your right - your forum - but still when I have to work with a component more than 2 days I have the right to define it as I see fit.

    2) Germi - I set up Enigma as the artist in the back-end but it stills shows up when I select A. The 2 albums from ACDC only had 19 songs and if you look at the screenshot the tab is showing 20 songs - 19 from ACDC and 1 song from egnima. It show not be doing this.

    3) Yes I did all that - I follow instructions and I read them well.

    4) Okay - what I will do is setup the site again. A fresh start - I will let you know when it is ready for you to look at - I have to be away for a while but will have it set up by tonight.

5)Let me know a way I can send you the info when you are ready. I do not like that there is no validation and an end user can set up an empty album/artist without any error messages showing that they missed a field or that a certain field is needed. But I am sure you are working on that.

    Plus discogs is having issues.

    2) then maybe is that for some reason the letter of artist "enigma" is denifed as "A". you can just change it on the artist admin form...

    3) then you see the param..? :)

    4) ok just let me know!

    5) at joomlamusicsolutions@gmail.com is ok.

PS: yes, discogs if having issues, thats true, but that is just from two days ago. they changed a bit the API system, but we are already working on that. we'll publish an update later today. theres a threa about this: http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/en/forum/version-2/strange-problem-with-discogs.html#7520

please, dont count this discogs thing as an issue on your list ;) because its something really new taht does not depend on us! ;)

No discogs is not an issue but would be nice to keep it in align and I do have a want list.

Believe me you have put in a lot of work on this and it is a great piece of software but I do get frustrated - I have rethought the process and have figured out a different direction to go. But still there should be some validation.

Promise me you will keep at it - you have talent man to do good with this.

I will keep reporting issues (if any at all) and we will work together.

we are constantly working on improvements on the system.
a new version will come out within a couple of months.

we always listen to the user's requests, and we base the new features on what people ask. we'll certainly consider the validation thing for future releases, believe me.

    best
