I am been wanting to do the same thing for some time. Not really make a genre menu, but a page per genre that lists info about the genre and the items that are marked with that genre. The new tagging feature in joomla 3.1 would work nicely for this. Germi has said elsewhere that he would be adding the tagging support from joomla into the next version of MC. I am hoping this is soon

for now you can create pages to "genres" with custom menu links, you have to make them point to:

index.php?option=com_muscol&view=search&search=songs&genre_id=XXX

you have to replace the XXX above for the id of the genre you want to display (example: index.php?option=com_muscol&view=search&search=songs&genre_id=3 )
