Few Question Regarding v 2.0

Hello,
the upgrade was easy and everything seems to be working fine. however I have few questions and concerns :

1- When playing a song within the album view, is it possible to have the name of the song which is playing? its very important for the user to know which track is actually being played.

2- can't the length of the songs be an automated process? if not how can you get rid of that info. completely?

3- I had purchased the PRO version but after upgrading to v2.0 I get "powered by music collection for joomla" thingy :)

4- How can I have the SEARCH bar that you guys have in your demo? are they modules?

5- when playlist is empty, instead of the text : no valid file types ... can we right something else perhaps?

6- How are you able to SAVE your playlists?

7- last but not least, How would a NON-REGISTERED member know that he/she is able to listen online or comment on an album if I set "view to registered members only'?

thanks very much and I have to say I love your component. I just wish I knew PHP much better so that I could customize the way I want it to look. hey can I have the same look as your demo comment system is? maybe different colors?

1 - if you increase the width of the player (the plugin) the song will show. but not on the list, if that's what you mean. that's certainly something nice to add on future version. just added it into my list ;)

2 - .. its manual right now.. I think there must be some way to skip this info. I'll study it

3 - then you didnt read COMPLETELY the upgrade instructions ;) please read it again: http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/en/support/upgrading-music-collection-from-1-5-1-to-2-0-0.html read point 13

4 - no, its buld in on the component! however, there's a brand new module precisely to show up a search bar! you gonna love it: http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/downloads/doc_details/55-search-bars-module-for-music-collection-2.html?lang=en

5 - not yet. sorry... I think jwplayer does not allow this :S

6 - on PLAYLISTS view, there's an icon next to the "on-the-go" playlist called CONSOLIDATE THIS PLAYLIST. that's how. ;) give it a try

7 - he ain't. :S maybe you could just put a manual note somewhere... there's certanly some way to do it directly on music collection, but you'll have to mess up with some code... are you familiar to php?

our comment system is JomComment, a bit hacked by us... but you can change colors of your on the CSS file /components/com_muscol/assets/comments.css

glad you like our component!!! thanks!!!!

    cheers,
    Germi

Thanks for the quick reply, well here's my 2nd round of questions :

1- when creating a MENU item can I make that button to go to a page where ALL ALBUMS are visible?

2- due to my site's template the main body is pretty narrow, I want to make the alphabetical list that is on the top all the time (provided with the component) to be in 2 rows instead of one long one. Any idea?

3- how do I edit the COMMENT box to be my desired size? do I edit the default.php in the template folder of the album view? any further info on that?

4- where do I find the TAG CLOUD module? didn't seem to find it in the downloads section.

5- Adding a new album keeping in mind that the singer is not entered in the artists category, is there a better/faster way of doing that? or do you actually have to go and add every artists individually first?

thanks again. I may have a last round of questions once I get home, giving a heads up :) this is good customer service and you have already spoiled me :)

    cheers

"5- when playlist is empty, instead of the text : no valid file types ... can we right something else perhaps? "

On something like this, couldn't you put a check in to see if there is a valid playlist before sending it to the player. If there is a playlist, then send it to the player, if there is not one, then you could do something like sending a default playlist that only has an image. The image could be a default image that is also used on songs that don't have any album art associated with them.

If you really wanted to get creative, you could substitute the flash play list with a java script one. There use to be a killer example on the jw site on how to do this but it is no longer there, they have replaced it with this example http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/tutorials/playlist-tutorial Not as cool and as simple as the old one and uses a few libraries, but still shows an idea. The best part of something like this using the js api listeners and handlers for the player is that the playlist can be dynamic in size. That way one doesn't have to define a big long playlist height if there might only be one song. It could even be designed to allow one to remove individual songs directly from the playlist or change the order of songs.

greengeek: I see you know what you're talking about ;) YES, javascript playlist would be really cool. I studied these js api listeners hours and hours, and I have here on my computer a beta version (alpha, actually ;) ) of a javascirpt playlist, using the listeners and such

it's really cool, because you can then of course use CSS for styling it. but, for my experience, I can tell you a lot of users would have problems until it is really stable. basically, I know a lot of IE users will have problems. thats why this is not available yet.

but yes, it's on the works. (keep this in a low profile ;) )

    @erwinlievre

1 - there no such view ("all albums" view). sorry

2 - mmm well I think you already fond that other post... as I said there, you can add some code hacking, but you must know what you're doing. you can always just adjuste the bar width thorugh CSS and make it fit into your template.

    3 - components/com_muscol/assets/comment.css

4 - it's the one called "Top viewed" module

5 - yes, artists first. sorry, no fastest way for this.
