I dont know what are rtmp mp3.. :S can you explain?

keithplayer plays mp3 files... if you send me an rtmp mp3 file I will tell you if keithplayer can play it

RTMP is about MP3 files on a Flash Media Server, here's the URL to one sample file
rtmp://b0jukk1m.rtmphost.com/songs/mad.mp3

By using Flash Media Server you can protect your MP3-Files from caching and downloading. Pls find further information on influxis.com

oh, ok. then its a not a different format itself (I mean, the file is still a plain mp3 file), but the sever is different (uses protocol rtmp, wich I never heard of before btw)
then I guess there is no problem, if you set your keithplayer songs server pointing to rtmp://b0jukk1m.rtmphost.com/

go to plugins -> Muscol - Keithplayer

the last parameter is "songs server". if empty, keithplayer takes the localhost as the server. elsewhere it takes whatever you tell it

btw, if I try to access rtmp://b0jukk1m.rtmphost.com/songs/mad.mp3 from the browser (firefox) it tells me that this is an unknown protocol..

can you open the file this way?

You can't open these files in the browser directly. But I think Keithplayer can't play them neither. The JW Player can use this protocol. I you want to try go to

http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/jw-player-setup-wizard?example=4

put in

mad.mp3 as file name and rtmp://b0jukk1m.rtmphost.com/songs as streamer.

So I think I'd be best to use JW player with MC – is this possible?

no, I think keithplayer can't play these.

yes, it is possible use JW with MC, but the plugin for it must be writen. It is really easy if you know some PHP, since all you have to do is copy an existing plugin (keithplayer, of course), and just make it render the JW player instead of the keith.

if you know some php I can tell you what file to modify.

if you don't know, better dont touch anything. I think is interesting to have the JW player for MC, so probably I will write the plugin myself. but this wont be available until, at least, next week.

so, if you can wait, just wait a couple weeks and I'll publish JW player for Music Collection

That'll be great – Maybe it's good for you to know that there's several JW Player extensions already existing – maybe MC could be connected to one of these.

PS: Let me know, if you need a testing environment for the streaming feature (I've got an influxis account) or just use the link I send you, I'll leave the file on the server.
