Hi,

I browsed through the forum to look for an answer and I read hundreds of posts and I cannot solve my problem.

I am using MC 2.2.0 and the latest version o JWPlayer plugin and module.

My website is www.crowdmusik.com.

You will find the playlist in the menu "Crowd Música" and the player in almost every page.

Can you please help to get this working in the website? Thanks!

    Hi again,

    Let me be more specific.

When I enter the music page in MC i am able to listen the music. The player shows up and works. That's the only place where I am able to do it.

The module gives me the step 5 error and apparently doesn't load the playlists. I get this problems at Chrome, IE and Firefox.

However, discussing the problem with a friend, I found he is experiencing the same problems in Chrome and IE, but the module works fine in Firefox.

    Does this information helps?

    Thanks!

    hello!

I have no problems at all playing the songs in my end... :S it works just fine, the way it should...!

are you able to see if there is some Javascript error on the page when you see the "step 5" error?

do you see this error on EVERY page of music Collection? or only in some of them?

    Hi Germi,

Yesterday after I posted the message I tried again at my home lap top and it was working fine in Chrome. I didn't do nothing and from one day to another it just started working.

Currently I am at another computer and I get the step 5 error again, but I am guessing it has something to do with some content filter active in the network.

I'll try again at home later to confirm it is working fine, and I'll as some friends to try it also.

    Thanks!

    Hi again,

By the way, I used Chrome's javascript console to check for errors, and in the playlist area I got this one:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) /crossdomain.xml

And when I select My Playlist i get this one:

    GET http://www.crowdmusik.com/crossdomain.xml 404 (Not Found)

    Is this of any help?

    Thanks

hmm... are you streaming from an external server? otherwise I don't understand why you get a call to the crossdomain.xml file... it makes no sense...!

can you just try to put a crossdomain.xml file in your site root?

but still makes no sense to me... where are you streaming from? what are your "songs server" and "songs path" parameters on MC config?

    Hi,

I didn't fill the "Songs Server" field on MC parameters. And in the "Songs Folder" field I have "/songs". It should work right?

And the stangest thing is that sometimes it works on my PC and sometimes it doesn't. Even on some friends I asked to test it on their computer...

    Strange.

How can I create a crossdomain.xml file to overcome this problem? Will it work for me?

Thanks a lot for your help!!

Maybe I can shed some light on the issue...

I have run into the same problem. Queuing individual songs in the playlist works fine. But when you try and set a playlist as current you get this error. It is also happening on the playlist demo page so it has nothing to do with our hosting enviorment...

    http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/en/music-collection-demo/playlists/sample-playlist.html

Try and push the "set playlist as current" button and it will not work in the module. I believe this button is not correctly sending the playlist information.

It seems the problem started when I updated the module to 2.2.1 but I could be wrong.
    http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/en/forum/joomla-1-6/unusual-picture-under-jwplayer-5.html#12517

Any ways, around in circles we go.

Thanks for your insight Max Power. Nice to have other thoughts on this. :)

Anyway, I went to the link you left us to try the demo playlist on MC's website, and to me it is working fine.

And that is the disturbing thing on this problem. It seems to work/not work on a random basis. For my website first it didn't work on my PC while it was working on my friend's PC, later ir worked on my PC, and know it does not work anymore.

To add something on the problem, I recently migrated the website from one hosting to another hosting. But I uninstalled MC and installed it again in the new hosting, as for the plugins and extensions.

Waiting for help! Playing music will be very important for my website! Thanks!!!

I am seeing this issue myself.. sometimes. :S :S don't know what this can be... it was working fine.

sorry for the trouble. I'm on it. it definitely cannot be a "random" basis thing... there's no such thing in computing ;) I just have to find what is causing this behavior.

    Hi Germi,

Thanks for your efforts. But i'm afraid I wasn't able to load the playlist onto the jwplayer module. :(

Jwplayer is no working for me on your site also. Module gives me the crossdomain error, but probably the error is that no playlist is loaded. I am just guessing.

    I'll be waiting for a resolution! :)

    1) please try again (REFRESH the page first, some JS files need to be reloaded). try to load any of the playlists http://www.joomlamusicsolutions.com/en/playlists-demo.html
    2) if the module still shows a message "your playlist is currently empty" please let me know. but in any case, do this: refresh the page
    3) does the playlist looks still empty? if not, what happens if you load another playlist into it? does it works?

    Hi Germi,

I am sorry... but it doesn't work. I can't load any playlist into the player. :( I followed your instructions and nothing. Still get the Step 5 error. It says:

Playlist could not be loaded. XML could not be parsed or playlist was empty.

    Hi,

Yesterday i had the following experience on MC's website:

    1- I was not being able to load any playlist from the list. It was not also working if I entered one playlist and tried to load it;

    2- So I tried a different approach. I went to some artists' pages and added songs to the On The Go Playlist. And when I tried to load the On the Go playlist to the player it actually worked;

3- And then, when I tried to load other playlists it increadbly worked ok!

Today I tried the same, but different outcome. I am not able to add songs to the On The Go Playlist but sometimes, randomly, the player load the playlist when i enter its page.

Something is very wrong with this. :( I hope my description might help you and that you can fix it soon!

    Thanks

    Hi,

Can please somebody from Joomla Music Solutions provide the clients with an update on this subject? The JWPlayer integration is certainly a main feature from your product and one of the reasons why your clients chose it to build a website. And apparently i am not the only one with problems.

This problem is serious, but even worst is not to have answers from your support.

I will be expecting news on this.

    Thanks.

I'm working exclusevely on this for the past 3 days...!

I haven't found a definitive solution yet. appearently something is wrong with jwplayer 5.7 that makes the playlists "not load correctly" the first time, but it works afterwards. if you want I can publish an update right now that solves partially the problem (just as you can see in our site), but there is still this final little bug that I cannot solve yet...

    Hi Germi,

Thanks for your quick answer and sorry my demanding mood. I was looking for a simple answer, and knowing now that you have been working on this bug is very reassuring. Sometimes clients just want to know what is going on and not to be completely blind for days.

I trully understand that solving this can take some time and knowing that you are working on this is good enough for me. I can wait for the bug to be completely solved, but it would be great if you could solve it during this week. :)

Anyway i'll send the link for my playlist area on my website so you can check what is going on with it. You can folow the above link or access the Playlists shortcut on the main menu.

I think we're very close to a solution.

PLEASE, check again this site (ours, joomlamusicsolution). PLEASE REFRESH THE PAGE (the javascript files need to be reload)

try the playlists functions: load a new playlist, load items into your on-the-go playlist.

    works?

    Hi Germi!

Thanks for your work on this. Let me report my experience on MC:

    1 - The load playlist button seems to be working properly in the playlists list. I was able to load several playlist to the JWPLayer module. Exception to playlist nº 12 but I believe there is something wrong with the playlist itself;

2 - When I entered in the playlist specific page the module is not automatically loading the playlist as I think it used to do before. And besides that, the load playlist button is not working in this page also. I tried to do it in several playlist pages and it didn't work in any of them.

I believe you are close to a complete solution which is great! :)

I hope this fix is able to completely solve my problem loading the playlists.

    Thanks!

    Hi again,

Nice! You fixed the load playlist button inside the playlists page! :)

But now I notice another problem. :( When select to open the player in pop up the player is not loading the playlist. And it was working 20 minutes before.

Another thing... it happened in my website and it was not working in MC's website also. When I enter an artist's page and I click the + button to add to current on the go playlist the player was not loading the song neither the on the go playlist page. I was trying in some artists pages and suddenly it started working again. I don't know if it is something to be checked by you.

    Great work Germi! :)

    Great!! Pop working!!! :)

But... sorry for being so picky... but good quality control makes great products. :) I was trying to add songs to the On the Go playlist and i couldn't.

1 - I loaded a pre defined playlist into the player
2 - I accessed an artist's page and tried to add songs to the on the go playlist. It didn't work
3 - I went to the on the go playlist page and cliked the button set on the go as curent
4 - I returned to the artist's page and tried to add songs to the on the go. It worked!

Is this supposed to work like this?

Again! Great work Germi! Please post the update as soon it is stable! Thanks!!!

this is not an error - it's the normal behavior! it has always been like this. when you set a defined playlist THAT IS NOT YOURS to the player, you cannot add songs into it. in that moment, the current playlist it not ON THE GO, but the other one. so songs won't add. you need to select on the go as current to fill it out with songs.

it has always been like this!

I agree that some notification like ("you cannot add songs into this playlist" message) or whatever is a good thing to add. we will add notifications in next version of MC :)

guys, I re-packed and upload new files.

    1) download and install plg_jwplayer_2.2.2 (uninstall previous version first) *
    2) download and install mod_muscol_jwplayer_2.2.2 (uninstall previous version first) *
    3) download com_muscol_2.2.0. in order to avoid uninstalling and reinstalling, you can just unzip the file locally and just upload to your site the following two files:
    - site/muscol.php TO /components/com_muscol/
    - site/controller.php TO /components/com_muscol/

    * if you want to avoid uninstalling/reinstall in order to not loose all the preferences saved, you can just unzip these files LOCALLY and upload the files in it manually to your server

    let me know!

As far as the typo... the top line read 2. I had to remove the 2.

I have refreshed and cleared all cache. The module works fine when trying to add individual songs. When I try to cue an entire playlist, nothing happens.

    Hi Germi!

Sorry... but not perfect yet. It has improved, but it is not working correctly yet.

In MC's website when you click the button to set playlist as current the playlist is loaded in the JWPLayer's module. Perfect!

In my website when you set a playlist as current nothing happens in the module. But if you click to the see player in pop up the playlist is properly loaded in the player. Then, if you close the pop up and restore the playlist in the module the playlist is correctly loaded in the module. If you try to load another playlist the same problem happens: nothing happens in the module and playlist is loaded in the pop up.

Also, when I enter a playlist's page the embeded player is not working. It gives me the Step 5 kind of error. :(

And last but not least... when I enter the On the go empty playlist it gives me a 500 error. :(

Please log in and check all these errors in my website.

But... player embeded in the playlist own page is not working. :( This issue should be related to the jwplayer plugin right? Any hint of what is happening?

    Hi,

Sorry my sites just on a testing server at the moment, should be putting it onto a live server in the next few days, won't be hooked upto a domain until all problems are ironed out, But I'll P.M you with the IP when its live,

Please let us know in the mean time if you identify the cause of this issue, Perhaps its an issue with the 1.6 / 1.7 version available for download...

    What is step 5 ?

    regards

    Jon

step 5 is just the code of JW player for the error. it usually means "playlist" not found: in other words, the URL to the XML that feeds the player is not well constructed. this may happen for SEF reasons (although it SHOULDN'T!) that's why I asked access: with one quick look I can see where the problem is :)

is your SEF on? can you try to turn it off for a moment and see if the problem remains?

I've moved it to a server accessible by ip, have sent you a pm.

Where abouts is the default url to xml ? perhaps a permission problem ?

Getting the same problem here on my test site. Downloaded everything fresh from "Your Orders". I get the 500 error only when I have Search Engine Friendly URLs turned on in the global config without using the Use URL rewriting option.

If I have both turned off, it works. If I have both turned on, it works. If I only have search engine friendly urls turned on and url rewriting turned off, it does not work.

EDIT: I noticed that the player only loads in the module on the MC pages. On all other pages on my website that are not part of the MC Component, it shows just the module title, and the Show player in popup link. When I click on that link on the pages that do not show the player, it loads a 404 page with the url, www.mysite.com/undefined.

    Germi,

Any idea why the flash part of the jw flash player module would only show up on MC specific pages, and not on non MC pages? Here is the address to my dev site: http://fatalclick.com/test/s/1-sample-artist

I just put it online so it can be viewed. It is just a test site where I test out new scripts and upgrades before I push them out to my live site, so it is typically offline. Please pardon the mess.

it's not a bug. it's simply that the player is HIDDEN by the system if it's EMPTY. you'll see, if you add a song, it will be shown.
it's just CSS: if the playlist is empty, the system adds a "display:none" to the player to avoid showing an ugly empty player

I know it does not show when the playlist is empty. That is very nice! No more errors showing up on empty playlists :)

On mine, the flash player is not showing on non-MC pages when I have a song loaded in the playlist. The module block and title show, but no flash player. They only show up on the MC pages.

    Any ideas why?

I had the same error on my site. I removed the JWplayer version 2.2.2 and replaced it with the version for 1.5 and it worked. Im not sure what version of MC your using but this may help you out!
