why dont you use Featured albums module? inside an article, for instance, through the plugin loadposition..

I would like categories or definable 'groups' also.
This would be very useful within the featured albums module.
Rather than having to define the included albums by comma-delimited album ids (which could be considered 'unfriendly' by the non-technical), one could add a particular set of albums to a group (maybe using a album name drop-down). Groups could be things like 'February's Featured Albums' or 'Beatles Featured 60s'. Then the Featured albums module could be simply configured by selecting a group by group name dropdown.

I understand what you mean, but right now you cannot achieve this in a more "user-friendly" way... only the comma-delimited thing is an option.
