Short answer, no. Long answer, kind of.

The music either has to be within your web root or accessible via a web url. So if your ftp server is setup to be able to access a share within your web directory, or within another web directory, then theoretically you should be able to use your ftp server to upload your music. Unfortunately music that is stored outside of your website will not work as how music collections is setup it needs a direct link to the music that is given as a web url.

I have posted a few times to request the feature to allow the music to be stored outside of the web, even if its on the same machine, and just store the direct links to the actual music within the database. That way the mysql server can generate a relative url. That way I wouldn't have to move my massive collection to the web. Nor would I have to make it far more easily accessible by putting it on the web.

Hopefully Germi will consider this feature in a future upgrade.
