I really like the Search plugin as it allows me to search most of my site using the small simple joomla search box. It makes it nice being able to add ablum title to the search. The only thing it does not allow me to do is search for artist title or song title. Is there anyway to add this functionality? It would be awesome to be able to have a simple search box search anything on my site, including these muscol items.

That way the user has a simple, single field form search box that can search the whole site that can show up on any page. Leaving the search box on the muscol main page only for when they want to do advanced searches.

Or better yet, separate plugins. So in the admin plugin manager, one could enable this functionality to the default search engine such as:

Search - Albums
Search - Artist
Search - Song

well, as you say, two more plugins (artist and song) should have to be created...

I guess I'll do this sometime when I do not have other things on the list..:)

    Germi,

Have you had a chance to work on this at all? MC is a great app, but the lack of the ability to search for an artist on it is one of it's biggest downfalls. Especially on sites that are trying to focus on the Artist and promote them.

It would be great if the ability to do an artist search was built into the mc search, or the search bars mod, or preferably the awesome album search plugin. On larger collections, using a drop down to contain all the artists becomes unpractical and slows the system down and the users ability to find a particular artist. Most of my users are use to be able to have the ability to search for artist, or album, or song independently having used sites like discogs.com, last.fm, rhapsody.com, music.yahoo.com, pandora.com, etc. So this is one of the biggest complaints I hear from them on a constant basis.

hmm.. unfortuntely didnt had time for this, yet...

I'll try to do it soon, but if you have some develper skills, you can try to "duplicate" the album search plugin, and create your own artist search plugin! :)

I would love to see a Ajax search like on Last.fm, their search engine is awesome.

Do you know if it's possible to add pictures in the search results, like album cover or artist?

    that would rock :)

I use the album search plugin from this site and the yoosearch mod for my search. That gives me the nice ajax search. The ajax search only works on anything that the default joomla search can search on though. So it is limited to just albums at the moment until there is an artist and song mc plugin made.

Unfortunately it doesn't show the album artwork and I find that it isn't compatible with any mc mods that use jquery, such as the "Random and Featured albums module (Charts)". I have to use this mod with the jquery and carousel mode turned off for it to work with my ajax search.

It appears that some of these modules might work http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/search-a-indexing/site-search if there are mc plugins that make the mc content available to the default joomla search engine.
