Thumbnail for album art and artists are not showing up for certain image types.

PNG and BMP are two that I have noticed so far. Is this a known bug?

I noticed as well. I had to convert most of the images to jpg. I think it's a bug as well.

well, it's not a "bug" actually: some PHP graphic libraries do not handle correctly image resizing for formats different than JPG.

so to avoid this it is highly recommended to use ONLY JPG if you can...!

OK, but this is 2011 and using a decent php image library to handle images should not be a big deal. Most servers have full feature image libraries already installed like Image Magic or GD2 library.

I find it kind of offsetting that it seems we need to tell users how to upload their media in order for the music software to work. IE, upload only jpg images, make sure there are no apostrophes in the file names, who knows what else.

In my opinion, these basics should be ironed out. Although there is currently no competition in the music collection department for Joomla, there soon could be. I am pretty active in the HWDmediashare forums. Currently they only deal with video and photos. But users have been asking for an audio management system as well, and an entirely revamped version is in the process. HWD has an extremely robust video and photo management and conversion system and I would not expect anything less when they release their audio software.

In my opinion nothing is better than competition to increase the quality of products. There is a reason why most the technical advances in human history have come from the United States (although we are pretty much fu**ed now)... friendly competition baby. I guess this is just a heads up for the developers of MC. I appreciate the quality of your product so far and your statistics are very nicely done. But some of these issues are real problems in my opinion and should not be ignored.

    Thanks for listening!

    your suggestions are listened :)

I do agree with you, good competition is basic to have great product qualities. no doubt.

I'll work on this image thing. again, I discarted it because I noticed several servers did NOT like resizing non jpg images (probably because not all of them had good GD libraries)

it is also true that this was about 1 year ago or maybe more, so probably things are different now, and GD libraries are more extended.

    noticed!!

I also agree with you about "not telling users how to upload media". its true. this is not a thing you'd expect in 2011. I'm working on fixing as many things of this kind as I can.

for instance, the APOSTROPHES thing is already solved in last version! :)

thanks for your words and keep up the good (and critical!! but necessary!!) work

take care my friend!! I'll keep on working!!!
