Hi Germi,

Can you explain me some more on the 2 tables: cud_content_statistics and cud_muscol_statistics ?

I noticed that the muscol one controls the output of the modules (Music Collection Statistics (RANKING) ) right? Does that do more? What does the content one do??.. cause that was over 8 million entries in my case, why do i need that?

What controls the hits on an album/artist/song page? i read about muscol_albums and then the hits field. Do the cud_content_statistics and cud_muscol_statistics have something to do with that?

I'm trying to find out some time to first byte issues on my site and wanted to set all counters to zero, to see if stats queries caused a problem. I'm getting to know the system but these questions puzzled me...

I am puzzled here too, Onne.

all the time I answered you thinking that you were using Content Statistics. However, I'm realizing that you don't have a CS subscription.. or am I missing something?

haha...4 real?... i have MC subscription, not the CS.

I do remember that you helped me out in the past cause i had these time to first byte issues... which seemed to be related to the stats we figured back then.

I see.. the thing is you are using CS (the IP block thing, for example, that's exclusive to CS)
what you should do in this case is to use only CS for stats (not MC, actually the stats in MC will be removed in a future version), which is up to date and has more options (like the IP block, the purge old data, etc)
But for that you would need a CS subscription.. this way you will have access to all the files and latest version.

    Ok Germi,

But in my case, MC subscription only.

I should disable the plugin: System - Content Statistics and enable Content Statistics - Music Collection right?

And i should keep my eye on the cud_muscol_statistics table that it wont go over 1 million. Then everything within MC should work fine?

    Germi,

    Final question for my understanding.

The 3 stats im interested in, album, artist and songs views are located in different tables right, the hits column in for example in muscol_albums.

Then why would i acivate the MC stats plugin? Does that put data into that specific muscol_album table as well? So more then cud_muscol_statistics alone?

Can i see muscol_statistics kinda like a temporarely table? How should i understand it? Because when i empty muscol_statistics the data i need is still there in the other tables.

no. the stats tables is muscol_statistics in your case. forget about the hits field, that is useless.

that only gives you a number of HITS, nothing more. there's no "time variable" to it.
