I've read in many places that Joomla 1.6 is going to be swiftly replaced by Joomla 1.7 (in July 2011, I believe) and then Joomla 1.8?
If I buy a subscription to Joomla 1.6 will I be forced to buy ANOTHER subscription to a package for 1.7 working modules in order for everything too work with Joomla 1.7 and then 1.8?
Or does the Joomla 1.6 subscription being offered plan to include 1.7 and 1.8?

0don't worry. Joomla 1.7 and 1.8 (and next...) evolve from 1.6.
so ALL plugins for 1.6 will work just as well for 1.7 and 1.8
you WON'T need to buy another subscription. 1.6 plan will include 1.7 and 1.8 versions when these come out.
actually I'm thinking that the packages should be named "1.5" and "1.6 and next", instead of "1.5" and "1.6" !!
