IP address/ user name orientation

Content Statistisc looks like the perfect tool for following users when they access not-public pages after login. Being a newbie in this field I also looked at other options like Google Analytics and Joomlawatch, but because they look to me as IP address orientated they don't gather information on users logging in from all kinds of places/devices via different addresses, whereas your application seems user name orientated and logs for longer timeframe and makes analysis per user possible. My questions: 1) Is my conclusion about IP address / user name orientation correct? 2) Is a user after login also followed when visiting public pages on my site? 3) do I need another tool for 'normal' statistic analysis of public pages 4) Can old data be set for automatic deletion in the settings after x (0-50) months or so?

    hello!

    1) yes, I believe so. you can have the pages each user accessed and all. you will have the IP info too, but most importantly you can "filter by user" to know what everyone is doing. yes.

    2) yes. EVERYTHING is logged, before the user logins or after.

    3) no, I don't think so...!

    4) there's no automatic data deletion, but it is very easy to do by yourself, simply cleaning old data from just one database table. so, no automatic, but not really need to be automatic. you can just clean it form time to time.

I'm impressed by you swift answer, but questions 2 en 3 remain unclear. If a visitor is not logged in, user identification is not possible. So then logging of visits to public pages has to be anonymous (only IP address). So anonomous visits to public part of my website will also be logged I understand. Maybe with username 'guest'? You have maybe screenshots how a report could look when listing visits from known users and guests?

    hello

no, of course user identification is not possible. yes, that's correct, "guest" visits are also registered, but the only info you have in this case is the IP, not the username (of course, because there is none)

the username is displayed as "UNREGISTERD". if you take a look at our screenshots here http://www.joomlacontentstatistics.com/extended-version you will see what I mean.

    did you check this? :)

    Hi,
Thanks, now i'm on the same wavelenght again. I see what you mean. Instead I would like to see a table without all details, so only the logged sessions from registered and unregistered user visits combined. For the last day or week or so. I mean one row per user session (session time-out is to be set in the settings I guess).

well this may require a bit of customization. I mean, you don't know when a user session ends...! why if he just quit the page? or close the browser? I'm not sure to totally understand your requirements :) could you try to define it a bit more? you can contact me directly at joomlastatistics@gmail.com if you prefer
