How to remove the "Powered by" link

So I just bought this extension, and would like to get rid of the "powered by" link at the bottom of the module.

The link goes to a holding page that isn't even a working website. I'm concerned this will be bad for SEO.

The extension cost a fair bit of money - Admittedly more than many other extensions. However, I'm pretty happy with it and I think it will serve the purpose nice;y - Just need to get rid of that link.

    Hello,

The powered by link comes with the standard version of the extension.

The only way to get rid of it is buying the professional version.

The link shouldn't go to a broken website. We are going to solve that if it's true.

If you are interested, as you have just purchased the extension, if you want the professional version, tell us and you will only need to pay the difference between the standard and the professional versions to get it.

    Thank you,
    Joan

Well that's a real shame and I have no option but to give this extension a bad rating for creating a back-link to a website that doesn't even exist. Have you even tested the link it creates? I guess not otherwise you would see it resolves to a holding page to "buy this website".

The price I paid for this extension was almost $70 Australian - Which is a huge sum of money for an extension of this kind. I won't be spending any more to purchase the pro version - Especially since this backlink isn't mentioned in the documentation.

Looks like I'll need to uninstall this extension, as I can't see where the backlink is generated anywhere in the database or code .
It's very unacceptable that an extension that cost as much as it did will be detrimental to my SEO. What a waste of money!!

    Dear Shandb,

Please don't be so angry. This "bad link" you mention has not been reported before, the link should be directing to our page www.joomlathat.com as in all our extensions.

Please, if you'd be so kind to let us know which is the broke link you're having, we'll take a look at it right away to see what's happening.

In the meantime I have updated your subscription to "Professional" so you can have instant access to the Pro files with NO link in them. If just just install these files (the modules) the links would be gone.

We are going to investigate what's going on with this link meanwhile.

Please, there's no need for a bad review here... this bad link you mention is of course not something normal...

Just as a side, the backlink is mentioned in all the pages of the store and checkout process...

Many thanks for your feedback! please let us know if there's any issue with the new modules of course!

Ok, I'm happy with this resolution, and I have removed my review. I appreciate your quick response with the matter and also appreciate you upgrading my subscription so that I can now use the extension in a manner that I thought I was buying at the time. I am happy with this.

My frustration comes from what I still consider to be quite an expensive extension. In my experience, it's the more scrupulous developers that put backlinks in their extensions. In 2015 I find this incredibly unprofessional. This is a tactic developers did many years ago. Now days so much importance is placed on back-links and outgoing links in SEO that it really is very rude of third party developers to assume this is something they can get away with.

Anyway - rant over. I do appreciate your prompt response, and are now satisfied with the outcome.

    Dear Shandb,

Thanks for your very quick and nice response.

As I mentioned, this bad link you're getting is not normal. I'm looking into it and it looks like the domain just expired (just 2 days ago...) and therefore is not making the redirect anymore. let me explain:

this link direct to OUR site. not somebody else's, not some "spam" website or anything like that. it's a link that says "powered by" that is intended so people seeing it can know that that page (or graphic or whatever) has been made with our extension. they are taken to OUR site (this very site, joomlathat.com) and they can know more abou the extension

what I guess it's happening here is that you were brought to our OLD website "www.joomlacontentstatistics.com". this domain immeditately should redirect to our page joomlthat.com (atually you aren't even supposed to see the old site because it's an automati 301 redirect). what is happening is that since the domain expired 2 days ago the pople reponsible for it didn't renew it, it stopped doing the automatic redirect, and that's why you're getting the bad page "buy this website" .

Please, just let me say in our defense that we don't "put backlinks" in our extension. This is not something intended to be "hidden" or with bad intentions.

we offer 2 versions, the standard and the professional. the only difference is precisely the backlink to our website, but this is mentioned in all the pages in our checkout process... if you remember, you reached a page where you had to choose between packages (there are 4 different packages actually). the 4 different membership options are described there, mentioning their differences, in particular the backlink...
I'm just pointing this out because as I said, this is not something "hidden" that we include in the extension with bad intentions or anything like that...

We also have this explanation page that goes depper on the details in versions: http://www.joomlathat.com/content-statistics/different-packages

In any case, I once more THANK YOU for your helpful feedback and rapid resolution of this matter!

Many thanks and all the best,
    Germi
