Can you provide a link to the documentation which answers this question, or just answer it here.

How do i, step by step, change the affiliate that a given customer should fall under? For instance i have an affiliate Jon....and a customer sally. When sally signed up for her product with us, she forgot to use Jon's affiliate link. How do i step by step assign sally to jon so that all her future payments to us pay Jon a commission?

just go to LOGS, in Affiliate Tracker backend, and create a new one. Select Sally as the user, and Jon as the affiliate. SAVE.
    that's it.

ok what about editing an existing affiliate/customer relationship. For instance removing a customer from an affiliate, or assigning a customer to no affiliate at all?

just find the log that links them together (there's a search filter) and edit it or remove it.

99.999999% of the log entries have nothing for "User" so i didnt even notice this column....

Why is there so much extraneous data in the log file, and how large can it grow, or does it get purged on occasion? As it stands right now my log file has like 12,000 entries with my name on it, not to mention everyone else. This has to be an issue at some point due to data size. Since there is no way to "view more" than just a single page, it takes forever to delete the log entries. Am i right in thinking that the "Logs" track every visit to the website from any referrer? If so why does it do this? Shouldnt it only track people who came in on a referrer link of an affiliate ID URL? you know, to help keep the log file/table as small as possible?

Also, am i correct that these log entries in the attached photo, are the log entries where an affiliate signed up for an account using his own affiliate ID, and now pays himself a commission on his own account? So if i delete these log entries he will no longer be both affiliate and customer on the same account?

    hi,

they don't track every visit from a referrer, they track every FIRST visit.
It is normal that 99.9999% of logs show no user. that's how it is supposed to be

when you visit a site for the first time, you're not registered user, are you? therefore your first log will show empty user. It's normal and it's how it should be.

And also, logs show how many visits are your affiliates bringing to your site. It's a key feature of Affiliate Tracker.

Yes, you are right about these two logs.

Ok then please explain to me the following:

    1. You say that the log entry is what "attaches" a customer to an affiliate.
    2. You say that to un-attach a customer from an affiliate we should delete the original log entry
    3. You also say that on most log entries there will be no "user name" since they dont have an account yet.
    4. You say to search the log for the User, so we can delete it, but also say that the log entry wont have the username in it since they have no username yet.

Do you see what I am saying? You are giving us a means to remove a customer from an affiliate which we cannot use, because its impossible to search for the username since it does not exist in the log entry which attached the customer to the affiliate in the first place! You said so yourself....."on the first visit, there is no username"....

    Hello Clifton.

    1. yes, I say that.
    2. not the original entry, I did not say that. You have to delete the entry that links the user to the affiliate.
    3. yes, I say that.
    4. no, I don't say that. I think you may be taking the things I said and mixing them in a wrong way.

Just as you say, I said "on the first visit, there is no username". That's 100% correct.

But, if/when the user actually registers and logs in, THEN the system will log a SECOND entry that will link the user with the affiliate. This is the log that will, from that moment on, link the user to the affiliate.

All I said was accurate :) it's just that I think you understood only the first (original) log "stayed". If the user registers, then there will always be a second log.

This is how it works and how it's supposed to work. If it didn't work this way, it wouldn't be working properly...

I hope you have a clearer picture now..

    All the best,

i got you, the reason for the confusion is that you said "they don't track every visit from a referrer, they track every FIRST visit." which makes it sound like ONLY the first visit is tracked.

Then in the reply you just made you said "But, if/when the user actually registers and logs in, THEN the system will log a SECOND entry that will link the user with the affiliate." which clears it up.

So am i correct in thinking that to unlink a customer from an affiliate, you dont need to delete all logs, only the one in which their username AND ALSO the affiliate name appear in the same log entry?
