Initial Implementation Problems

0
I purchased MC today and have been trying to integrate into a site. The installation went fairly smoothly and I set up all of the initial parameters and folder structure. I set up a couple of artists and albums, then uploaded album art and a couple of songs for each album. Here are some of the problems I am having:

1. Thumbnails are not generated...the album art is loaded into images/album_extra/album_name folder but no thumbnails are being generated in the images/albums/thumbs_40 0r images/albums/thumbs_115 folders. I checked and I have dynamic creation selected in parameters. I also checked to insure PHP GD Graphics Libraries are installed on the server. In an attempt to get thumbnails displaying for albums and songs, I uploaded appropriate thumbnails into the thumbnail folders. However, I still do not see any jpg where they are suppose to be. I did look at the source of the loaded page and found the statement trying to be displayed as ".../images/albums/&width=40" where ... is the correct fullpath on the server. This looks strange to me as I would have hough the thumbnail file name should be there - not &width=40. Any help would be appreciated.

2. The Random Albums module does not show images. I downloaded the patch for this, but still no images showing. Also, the thumbnail width I set in the module does not seem to be used.

When I display either a Playlist or Playlists, the display takes the entire screen - it is not staying in the content area, i.e., it overwrites he right module area.

3. Popup player not working in IE8. It seems to work fine in FireFox.

4. No album art showing in player in either the module or pop-up view.

5. Adding song to playlist while player is playing a song stops the player. This is not good. If I am listening to a song and add a new one I sure do not wan to have to re-start the one I was listening to.

6. The embeded music player is not showing in the playlist screen. A blank rectangle is there and if I click in it a song sarts to play, but no controls are available.

Last, I am not sure how playlists work. I assume that when I use the add to playlist button it is being added to an on-the-go playlist associated with my user login. However when I look in the database playlist table there is nothing there. How do I add a named playlist other than the on-the-go one. How do other users add playlists?

Should you like to look, the site is loendorffamily.net.

I would be happy to send screen shots of any of hese issues if that would help.

Thanks for any support you can give - David

OK, so I just figured out how to create a playlist...you use the Consolidate button. I guess maybe this should be Save instead of Consolidate.

    1) the album art whould be loaded into images/albums. be sure to user the LAST image field (on album backend form) for the FRONT SLEEVE. not the other two. (wich is what you are using ;) )

    2) same reason. just use the other field.

playlists) you have to use ITEMID MC parameter.

    3) we are working on this.

    4) same reason as 1)

    5) this should happen... :S does it happen in FFX ?? I mean, the system is designed so precisely this does not happen...

    6) not sure if I know what you mean... :)

    best,
    Germi

Thank you for explaining the correct way to add album art. That corrected all image problems.

The item 6 problem does not appear after updating to the new song template. :)

The problem with pop-up player stopping playing when a new song is added to the playlist remains. Since the pop-up player is not working in IE8 the testing was done in FF. The song added shows up in the playlist - the only concern is that the player stops and I need to restart it.

The attached image shows the problem with the playlists screen overwriting the right module position. I hope this helps.

    Two new issues:

    7. How do I set the random image module parameters to show just 1 CD and not overwrite the edge of the right module position as shown in the attached image above?

    8. When I rename a playlist in FF it is renamed correctly. When I press the Save button in IE8 to rename a playlist I am thrown back to my Home screen. When I go back in to Music and to playlists, the playlist has not been renamed. ??

    Thank you - David

BTW...I am enjoying this component and set of modules. When I get the last few issues resolved I plan to modify an application I wrote, which creates playlists and uploads them and the associated mp3's and art work to a wimpy player site, to support MC sites.
