SOLVED: Uninstall issues

Hola, Germi!

I had noticed some initial 500 errors when trying to set the Component up with menu views based on Songs and Albums... but once I used the Artist Default, everything was working great, until some of my own personal customizations created problems viewing the search engines.

But now, I'm having trouble uninstalling Music Collection, so that I can re-install from scratch. When I re-install, I keep receiving the error:

Another Component is already using directory: "/home/mysite/public_html/components/com_muscol"

I have un-installed both the Component and the Dew Player plugin in Admin, manually removed all the custom folders and files from the initial installation, removed the menu items, and have also further removed any instances of com_muscol from the phpMyAdmin database. I don't see anything left that would cause the conflict.

Do you have any suggestions for what else I might try to prevent this error?

Despite this, I wanted to tell you how wonderful Music Collection is... love all the options you included and how smooth and fast it is! Excellent!

Thank you and have a good day!

    Solved the issue.

I had forgotten about the com_muscol folder in the administrator directory. That needed to be manually removed, as well. It's working again!

    hey Jaye!
I see you solved that problem (yes, you had to remove the folder com_muscol ;)

I'm a bit worried about this 500 initial errors you say you had... what kind of errors?

BTW, to access the "root" of MC from a item menu, you must choose the "Artists" view. I think I'm gonna write an article explaing some things about views..

    have a good day!

    Hi, Germi!

All is well now! No need to worry... Yes, choosing "Artists Default" or "Artists Detailed" eliminated the errors. Depending upon what view *other than* "Artists" were chosen, the album search and/or "browse songs by this artist" link were returning the 500 errors.

I experimented with other views, but now I understand why Artists view is best as the default menu choice... the others are still good for individual item display uses. Thank you for clarifying!

The minor code changes I made for my own specific use, were enabling the player for all visitors, removing ratings/comments and adding a "Home" link to the artist and song pages, but it's otherwise remained in tact... I will provide you with a link, as soon as I've added a few more things to the database! :)

    Have a good day!
