After some weeks using the component It mostly covers my needs but I think there are lots of room for improvement so I would like to suggest some changes:

  • It would be great if when adding the VAT Number for a client, you could automatically check it just clicking a button. Right now when buying in your site, you already do that so it's just adding that nice feature to the extension ;)
  • Also it would be great to link some of your taxes type to this VAT number and give country conditions, so that it's always applied if the client is from a specific country, or do not apply it if the client is from the EU and you have the VAT number.
  • The template system is very simple and nice, but it would be better if you could apply some kind of conditional fields handling. For instance {to_phone#Telephone: %s#Telephone: No Phone} could display Telephone: 123456789 if the phone is present or Telephone: No Phone otherwise.
  • Currency management is really poor, and in my control panel all the amount of my invoices is added, but my invoices are in different currencies so the displayed a mount is not correct. It would be great if instead of adding amounts altogether, these were splitted, so instead of 2000 I would have 1500€ and 500$

Anyway thank you for this great component and I'm waiting to see your next releases to provide a 5 star review at JED.

Best!!

    Hello Carlos,

first of all, thanks a lot for taking the time to make these suggestions!

will definitely consider your suggestions, like template imrovements, EU VAT and also currency management improvement. we will create a new table for currencies and add only the invoices of the same currency :) we already had this in mind

    thanks!!

    Thank you very much Germinal!!

I just have one little suggestion, although it might be not very useful for your clients: The ability to have one translation of your invoices, or at least to be able to have a dummy copy of the invoices so that it's only for translation purposes. Templates are very powerful for this, but when you have to translate items, there is no solution.

    Best!!

well, you can just "clone" the template, and then edit the terms, to be translated.. do you know what I mean?

I think I know what you mean, but that would imply that I no longer have the original items, but the translations. I save a pdf of the original invoices but I also want to have everything set in the component so that I do not need to keep editing things to create a copy of an invoice. I think a "dummy" state for the invoices that does not count regarding accountability or invoice numbers will be the easiest way to go here. Anyway, multilanguage capabilities will be the cleanest thing ;)

no, I meant to create a duplicate of the TEMPLATE, not the invoice itself.. this way you can have.. "invoice template in spanish" and you can use it on those invoices you want to have in spanish

Actually I do have several templates in English and Spanish, but the problem is with the items description. Those cannot be translated in the template.

So would you consider the "dummy" state for invoices or the ability for translating the items? ;)

yes I will think about it. I'm thinking in the best way to translate items.. but it's not as simple as it looks! :)

I do know it's not that simple, that's why I thought the dummy state for the invoices would do for me ;)

Is there a release date for these changes? Also I have noticed there was a couple of releases that were not shown in my Joomla! update manager neither I have received an email about them. Is there a way of being notified about new releases?

    hello,
    no, no date yet.
the release was a minor release only fixing syntax issues in the 2.5 version. there are no new featured whatsoever, you don't need to upgrade.
