Shared Categories

0
Hi,

I just purchased and installed the corporate version of expense manager. Just realized that i cannot have common categories for all 30 users. I have to create new categories for each account.

Am i missing something there or there is no option to see common categories?

Thanks

Ok so i figured out, in the "Permissions" tab, if we turn on "See all items of any user, filter them and access administration interface", all users can see all the categories list.

But that also makes it possible for all users to see each others expenses, and that's not an ideal scenario for us.

Can you please suggest a solution?

    Hello,

It's not possible to have "public" categories for everyone, the way it is intended to work is that everyone can create their own (private) categories.

What you're asking for is not directly possible with the current version of Expense Manager. If you need to have it built in right away, we can do it through our Custom Coding Service.
Otherwise, we will think on adding this option on the official release for a future version, to allow admins to create categories that can be viewed by everybody.

This doesn't make any sense. So in the administrator reporting, if 30 of my employees created the same "Transport" category, it will list it 30 times ?!

I cannot even do reporting based on categories then.

Yes because in this scenario, these are "their own private categories".. doesn't matter if the name of the category is the same. As mentioned, this is the way it currently works... we will work to add the shared categories option for a new release.

This is a serious logic flaw of the component. It makes it virtually useless for company expense management.
