Evolution in Time By Group

0
Hi,

I just wanted to get a better clear understanding of the Evolution in Time chart. I am looking to compare a newly registered users vs paid member group. I understand that you can filter by ID. With that being said my confusion is if I choose com_users as the content provider, user registrations as content criteria, specific user as the user profile as the selector, and input the number 2 for Specific ID Filter (2 corresponds with the ID of the Registered user group), will that graph new registrations from the Registered user group?

not exaclty. You should not use the "specific ID filter" in that case.
the ID in that case is for a single user (it would be the ID of the user, not the group)
since the action itself is already "user registration", you don't need to input any ID filter in there.

If I understand correctly, what you're saying is that your PAID members are added to a different user group (different from group ID 2, which is "registered")

    is that it?

Hi and thanks for the speedy response.

Correct. Registered Users are in a separate group from paid members. However a user must first register with the site before they can become a paid member. Once they have become a paid member they are no longer in the Registered User group. My goal for this chart is to compare newly registered users to newly paid members

I understand, thanks for making that so clear.
No, in that case you can't directly achiveve that, because you would need some sort of "group filter" within the module options (for com_users), which is not there are the moment.
a little bit of custom coding would be necessary to build such filter options.

oh. =( that's unfortunate. I think group filtering would be a great option to add in the future as well. But I can see how managing an extension such as this is difficult because any module or component has data which can be manipulated in some form or fashion as a statistic. The problem is, how do you keep up with extrapolating and aggregating that data for so many popular extensions to make this useful to everyone. That must be hard for you and at the same time difficult for me to implement the exact stats I need.
