Hello. I know that you added the front end addition of album, artist and song with your last upgrade, but this feature have to be improved.
These are my suggestions that are minimum requirements for this feature:
1) allows admin to set every field of add album, artist form like required, not required, shows and hide;
2) allows admin to insert tooltip description from backend for every fields;
3) add "import from discogs" function on front end so user can insert faster and more easily these informations;
4) allows user to choose multiple letter with ctrl key for the artist (for example john lennon: letter j and l);
5) allow user to delete their comment from front end
6) add "conditions and terms" field on the add songs page that user have to accepted before upload them.

Only with all these additions your front end edition is complete and powerfull.
Please note that these are features that a component like yours have to have.

Thanks.
Best regards

    Hello,
    I'm writing to you to ask news about the development of the component. In the previous email you sent me you told me that you were working on a new version of the component (that's why I deleted my review on the joomla! forum). Please, can you tell me somwthing about the new features you're going to add and, more important, when are you going to release it. At the moment, in fact, the component is unusable and I didn't publish it.
    Best regards

    hello!

    yes, I remember! :) I told you I would tell you as soon as it was ready. it is taking a bit longer than what we initially planned, but it is in an advanced phase already! just a bit more patience!

    what will it include:

    1) much nicer and ordered user interface.
    2) possibility to set fields as "mandatory"
    3) possibility of automaticaly adding a new artist through the album form, without need to access to the artist form itself.
    4) ID3 tag reading (Beta)
    5) indication that the form is being submitted
    6) we are trying to implement a "upload progress" bar for the songs, but we are not sure if it will come in this version, or in the next (its the most delicate part). in any case, if it is included, will be in Beta status.

    any other suggestions? :)

    best,
    Germi

    2) possibility to set fields as "mandatory"
    Good idea, and maybe the possibility to hide fields that we deem unnecessary?
    3) possibility of automatically adding a new artist through the album form, without need to access to the artist form itself.
    Good
    4) ID3 tag reading (Beta)
    In my opinion, one of the most important features you can have... can' wait : ) Also, I'm not to sure about this, but can ID3tags also be used for album covers?
    5) indication that the form is being submitted
    Maybe indications when a song is added to a playlist etc... Unless I am missing something, when I hit add to playlist nothing happens. Its not till I refresh the playlist page do I see a song added. Not a big deal, just something to think about.
    6) we are trying to implement a "upload progress" bar for the songs, but we are not sure if it will come in this version, or in the next (its the most delicate part). in any case, if it is included, will be in Beta status.
    Also an important feature, but I understand the trouble getting this to work. Are you using the uber uploader script I pointed out to you Germi? Just thinking out loud here about how to add an entire album in the front-end at once... Would users upload a single album zipped into a single zip folder. Then the software unzip it and place the songs in the correct artist-album directory... and then read the audio file ID3 tags. Or could we queue up the songs from the album to be uploaded individuality?

    Any ways, keep up the good work Germi... your software will be a real gem in no-time!

    hello!

    your point 1) is added!!
    your point 2) is added too, as well as 3! (I just forgot to put it on the previous post!)

    point 4) won't be done by now. we studied it, and it would cause a lot of problems and doubts (for instance: what letter should be market on the letter bar? what letter should be shown on the BREADCRUMS? and what letter on the SEF URL? do you know what I mean?

    point 5) we'll look into it.

    point 6) I also missed this. we'll see!

    as you can see, its not that different of what you suggested! :) I just forgot to mention some things! :)

    Thanks for your reply. Are you adding the ACL feature to set which user level (registered, author...) can add and or delete and or modify album, artist, songs, comment... on frontend?
    Best regards

    Hmm, why must we wait for the maturity of Joomla 1.6 for this? The ACL of 1.5 would work just fine. It would be nice to be able to allow certain users to edit artists and albums throughout the collection. As it stands currently, only the users who initially added the artist or album can edit and/or add information. Although the ACL of 1.5 is not as robust as 1.6, it is still useful.

    Yes i am agree with max power. You could add ACL rule already with joomla 1.5. When joomla 1.6 will be stable ACL will be better.

    Hello. I wish to know if your addon about point 3 (IDS tag reading) will fill automatically name of artist, of album, year, and other data in the respective form field.
    Thanks

    Hi there,

    Another suggesting is to be able to only upload a song and then having to select the album and artists it belongs to.

    E.g. I've created an artist.

    Someone else creates a new album. While doing so he or she is able to select the artist this album belongs to OR create a new artist.

    When we have Artist & Album a third person adds a song. This user select the album and artist this song belongs to.

    If this album is not in the database, the user creates this album and assings the artist. If the artist + album are missing than the user creates both.

    need the ability for users to add songs to already existing album, for example if all songs of an album is not submitted by the administrator, i need to enable front end users to complete the track list.

    Any update or progress on this feature. Power users need to be able to edit any and all.

    Unfortunately now this nice component has many limitations about front end managment.
