Batch Load Utility ??

0
Is anyone aware of any plans to develop a batch load utility for "Music Collection" that would enable loading of dozens to hundreds of artists, albums, images, MP3s, all in a batch bulk loading utility ? That would be a SUPERB addition to this already wonderful component. Thanks !!

I'm thinkin on ways to include a batch load utility for MP3

(but artists? how would you upload an artist??)

well, I guess you maybe mean the album images or artist images... right?

Yep, the artist images. If the base work such as creating the album and artist need to be done on the website, that would be OK. But it would be ideal to be able to then specify multiple MP3 files and click "Go" that uploads them all to the specified album/artist. BLIP TV has a utility called "UpperBlip" that works great for batch loading of multiple videos to their site. Something that works as that does would be wonderful. Thanks !! (in advance :-) )

What about just a direct FTP access from the Backend in the Song[edit] mode! i mean if you just uploaded an album in a artis specific folder ( e.g : /public_html/songs/artist/artist_album/file_001.mp3 )and then refer to this path for the song/track in the Song [edit] menu! this is just like when you want a file for download, you uploade to a dir on your ftp/server space and refer to this file in a link-tag or as a direct downloade. I guess you mean you are doing this right now, because that´s how I do it, i.e. just upload the audio files to the songs folder with a regular FTP software and just place the file name in the "new song" form. Works fine. I personally don´t see a need for browser upload, when FTP usually can handle this more transparently. But our needs maybe different, of course.

I should edit what I just said. Of course, a batch file upload would be good as it takes away the need to manually copy each file name into the "new song" form, for example. So ignore my post above.

An FTP based solution works fine for me seeing as though I am technically inclined. What I would like forever is for someone who is not very technical to be able to launch a simple application where they can select a bunch of audio files off their hard drive, specify the names of each song in a form, and click "Upload" and it all happens automatically. That is something in and of itself that I would be willing to pay for. I want to be able to hire interns who just simply upload music all day using such a tool. Don't necessarily want them having direct FTP access to our server.

Upper blip is an example of such a tool that provides a very convenient mechanism for loading dozens of video files onto Blip.TV . You should probably download it to get a better idea of the basic functionality that I believe would add tremendous value to your product. Thanks.

Cool. I certainly can't speak for the entire user community but if I had to pay say $19 bucks for such a tool, I would consider that money well spent. Would save a great deal of time. Thanks in advance for looking into it.
