Hello germi,

I just bought your component without reading much about it, without second thoughts. Because your demo impressed me a lot. I know its not your fault.

I'm a little disappointed now because I don't know how to get MC look like the demo you have in your side. And the worst part is that I have it on my live site.

I'm sorry to say, but I really need a LOT of help in getting my site look like the demo.

The issues I'm facing now are:

1. None of the images are showing up though I have already created the folders as mentioned in the docs. When I upload a picture, I can see it uploaded in my folder, but doesnt show up on the website.

2. How come there's no alphabetical bar included in the component? Like the one in the demo? Would it be possible for you to give away your module for download?

3. Anything else which takes to make my site look good :(

I'm ready to give you my admin Id and password if you wanna see where I have gone wrong. I cant really setup a menu for MC right now because nothing is ready and its my live site.

Please help.

Thanks a lot :)

Regards,
Subhramani.S

hello there. don't worry, all can be solved. unfortunately, I have to leave for a few hours now, so I won't be able to take a look at your site right now, but I will later. anyway:

the alphabetaical bar: you have to click on "Parameters" button on the bakcend. you'll see a lot pf parameters, and show/hide alphabetical bar i one of them

about the images: without taking a look I cant really say what it can be, but:

    -images must be JPG
    - be sure the folders have 755 permisions. maybe thats because you cant see them.

sorry, I have to leave now, see you in a couple hours. Don't worry, everything is gonna work fine :)

    cheers! :)

    Hey germi,

Thanks for the reply. Please take your time. I shall tell you what issues I'm facing properly now so that you can think about what could have gone wrong.

    1. Images not showing up - I have created folders, CHMOD'ed them to 777 as they were already 755 and I wasnt able to upload. So now the images jpg, they are uploading, but not showing up on the website. None of them. Including the icons like the CD, music logo (whatever its called), comments... nothing. Though the image files exist in the "/components/com_muscol/assets/images" folder.

    2. Alphabetical bar - I have set it to show in the Parameters. But shows up in a vertical manner and its in a bulleted list. Looks really pathetic. I THINK its because the images arent showing up. Not sure though.

The URL of my website is http://headbangers.in. You will not be able to see MC at the moment as I have not created any menu link to it yet.

Let me know when you can check the website and I shall be online with you as well.
    Thanks a lot again :)

    hello there

I have taken a look at your site. I have seen MusicCollection (it is not accesible from a menu, but I could access just writing "?option=com_muscol&view=artists" on the navigator) and... I see the alphabetical bar just perfect! :) not vertical.. just fine, as I have it on my site...I add an screenshot of your site so you can see how I see it:

about the images not showing: I dont see any album on you Music Collection... so I dont know what images are or are not showing! add some album so I can see it!! :)

by the way, reading your lattest post, I gotta ask you: where did you created the folder for images? (I mean "albums", "albums/thumbs_40" etc)

you have to create them inside the images folder of Joomla, NOT in components/com_muscol/assets/images !

    I'm waiting for your reply

    cheers my friend :)

    bonjour!!!

Thanks for the reply man. You know what? Your component is F@%#$N mind blowing. Its wonderful.

Just before I went to sleep last night, I figured out that the issue was not with your component, but with my darn website. Was too sleepy to inform you about that. Sorry!

I found out that it kind of worked when I installed the plugin for sh404sef. Then it worked PERFECTLY when I completely disabled SEF, both Joomla Core SEF as well as sh404sef. A few days back, I clicked on the "Cleanup messy code" icon in my editor which seems to have messed up my website completely. I found it very hard to get the image URLs to work. ALL the images in my articles were screwed up. I don't know how to fix that up now :(

Anyway, thanks a lot for your prompt replies germi. And thanks a million to your component because that was something which I was looking for ages now.

    Cheers!

OK.. a really weird question now.
How do you assign an artist to a particular genre? :s

I looked through the docs, but it only talks about how you create genres and different levels. When I create an artist, there's no option for me to assign genres to the artist. Please help!!

    hello man,

genres are NOT assigned to artists, but to ALBUMS and SONGS
I made it this way, because an artist can have songs or albums from different genres. So: assign the genre directly to the album or the song :)

Makes sense man. I figured that out :)

Ok.. now for a really genuine doubt. None of the bands which I have assigned to "123" are showing up.
    Can you check please?

And I'm really sorry for bugging you so much.

Also, the white part where the main component shows up, can that be extended till the bottom of the page? Because it looks a little weird and incomplete?

    I have attached a screenshot.

    hello

that gap depends ONLY on you template. you have to add some property to your CSS template file, like "min-height:100%;" or something like that, on the div containint the main component content.

about the "123" i dont know why this can b happening. it is possible that is a bug I didn't notice...

give me some hours, I'll tyr to find out, and if it's my mistake I'll solve it on the next minor release, of course

    :)

dont worry about asking much: you payed for the component, so you have the right to be supported!! :)
