default template structure

We do not understand the structure of the default bootstrap template.
The item description resides on the top of an empty table, why?

this is because you have edited the template using the HTML mode (not recommended, as you can see repeatedly in the template manager).
that probably screwed up the code in the template and it doesn't show ok..
I recommend you to simply re-install the component, it will create the invoice template again for you. this time do NOT use the html mode for editing to avoid this issue.

We have copied the default template and modified it first in the editor. It messed up, as you repeatedly warned.
Then we have deleted the messed up copy and created a new copy from the default template, this time we have made modifications in the html code directly. However, it still is messed up. Please, advise.
Moreover one comment: if your product is not robust enough and does not work with the editor, then you should not provide this function. It makes no sense.

    hello,

are you sure to copied the original code completely..? if the code is the original, it will show ok! it's the one we use everywhere.

PS: we leave the Editor option because some editors may not mess the code up, but most likely we are going to remove this option in the future.

Yes, it was the original code, after copying we modified it in the code view directly.

Please, tell us how to adjust the invoice template without using the editor as well as using the direct code modification.

the date on the invoice is showing before because there is no invoice number (and then the date goes one line up)
you won't use invoice numbers on your invoices?

by the way, the items look ok to me in your template...

Okay, but this is a bug. A table is a table ;-) this is not a normal behaviour. However, we think that the invoice number is generated automatically, isnt it?

    yes it is generated automatically.

but no, that is not a table, in HTML terms, it's a "DL" (description list), that's why it's acting like this.
if you want, this can be arranged by copying the PDF HTML code format to the normal format (which YES, it uses a TABLE layout to avoid this)
do you want me to do that for you?

sure, but I don't want to screw up the Language modification you hade done on the current template.. when you translate the PDF part, you just have to copy the code to the first tab of the template.

in any case, will you be using invoice numbers? it didn't create this one automatically because probably when you created the template, you hadn't set the settings before. it will work from now on.

I have the same issue. As soon as I press the save button, even without modification. my template is gone out alignment. the items are printed before the table and table is all empty.
Unable to edit the template at all.

this means you used the HTML editor probably.. right? you need to use the plan text editor mode. if you want to restore the original template code, just reinstall the extension and it will create the template again.
