I just purchased your music management system and am currently installing it. I am brand new to your app as well as joomla and thought I would make some suggestions on the installation.

I first setup my webserver with no problems using wampserver. The setup of joomla was fairly smooth as well. I then installed your app. I did get it to install, but there were a few minor bumps along the way. First I went to your website after downloading the package. Clicking on Support and then installation I brought up an installation page. Unfortunately this page is outdated.

I then unzipped the download, and instead of the 2 folders it mentioned, there were 8 archive zips within it. No biggie, figured it must be the largest one named com_muscol_1.5.1_pro.zip Then I had to read up on how to install the components in joomla. Since there were no instructions on which I should use, I chose the upload archive option. That seemed to work.

Then I followed the installation page where I had to create folders and move a file over. So far so good. Then it told me to go and click on the parameters icon. This I did and proceed to set it up. I don't understand all the options in there, but I think I have it setup correctly. I guess I will find out when I start adding info.

This is where I ran into one small problem. On the Joomla Music Solutions admin page there was a bunch of code like on the album and rating sections. Also on some of the pages. I looked back at the install page on your website and I did everything correctly. Only thing I skipped over was the instructions about the DEWPLAYER as I had no idea what it was. So I figured I did something wrong and scrapped my joomla install and started fresh. This time reading a bit more carefully, I noticed the instructions that were overlooked by me following the previous instructions to update the preferences which takes me away from the installation page, that it had listed after to turn on short_open_tag. After seeing that and restarting my webserver, then going in and changing the apps preferences the program appeared to install correctly.

So I guess long story short, the 2 things I would really suggest would be:

1. Updating the websites install instructions to match that of the more current ones that load upon installation.

2. Updating the code to not use short_open_tag. This is a setting that is by default disabled on some php secure settings packages

From the php.ini file:

; This directive determines whether or not PHP will recognize code between
; tags as PHP source which should be processed as such. It's been
; recommended for several years that you not use the short tag "short cut" and
; instead to use the full tag combination. With the wide spread use
; of XML and use of these tags by other languages, the server can become easily
; confused and end up parsing the wrong code in the wrong context. But because
; this short cut has been a feature for such a long time, it's currently still
; supported for backwards compatibility, but we recommend you don't use them.

Other than those 2 minor things, the install seemed to be straight forward. Now time to figure out how to add content :)

    greengeek,

the only thing I can say is YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

installation instructions are old and have to be updated. I will as soon as I publish the new version. fortunately I see you managed to work everything out :) that's great

abaout the short_open_tags, the truth is that it is normaly enabled on php servers... anyway, I'll try to change it so MC does not have to use it

please let me know if I can help you in ANYTHING

    best,
    Germi
