Marketing on my dime?

I have no issue with extension developers forcing their link on the extension I pay for. I draw the line when said link is added to emails that I send and find it nothing short of abusive! For one thing there is not a single client that I have that would be even remotely interested in or need an invoice extension and the idea that I am directly marketing for you to my clients is wrong on every level!

I found the culprit file that was doing this and found that if I remove the code that generates the link in the email the component refuses to send the email. You want to force a linkback on the website that is fine, but dont force me to include a linkback on personal emails that I send to my clients in trust! That is totally unacceptable and I refuse to support such an abusive tactic!

I am sure I replaced it? It was not my intention to remove it, I was only wanting to remove it from the email. I will find this file and replace it with the right one. I do not want to violate the terms and like I said I have no issue supporting extensions, just not in the email...;)

All I am asking is that the link back is not sent to my paying clients. They did not ask for this, I did when I subscribed to use Invoice Manager and I am not in a habit of soliciting to my clients.

Just to clarify your link in fact does not appear on every page. In fact the invoice page that the client goes to when they click the email link "Pay Now" does not display the footer link. That is of course for the clients that are not getting the obfuscated link I reported in another post (x-msg).

Here is an example showing the footer link is not present.

    hello,

we have no intention to be abusive in any way.. I'm sorry you feel this way.

Just to clarify (if I may):

    - the link is (as advertised) added to the bottom of each Invoice Manager page. This includes the "invoice" page itself.

    - since the EMAIL sent is renderer from the SAME page (I mean, it's actually the SAME php code that renders the template both for online view and for email view, as you probably have seen), this means the link is included on both views. Not for abusive practices at all.. it's because they share template, that's how it has worked til now...

    - in any case, in the next IM version we're preparing, the email template is actually SEPARATED from the online view template. This means the link will NOT be included in the email by default..

    Hope this clarifies a bit...
