Can we create the proforma function?

Quotes are not Proforma. Quotes are a sort of estimate to send a client before accepting a job. It's a great and useful tool, however please understand this, in Italy (not sure about Spain or other countries) you pay taxes and VAT based upon the issued invoices, regardless they are paid or not.

Sometimes it happens a client tells you he wants to do a job, you issue an invoice and a week later something horrible happened to him and he doesn't want to do the job anymore.

This is why PROFORMA invoices are important to us Freelancers, so that we don't have to pay taxes for services we did not deliver.

WHMCS and many others billing software support proforma. I would like to know if it's possbile to implement this feature in Invoice manager too.

The concept it's actually very similar to Quotes, but with some differences, for example, there shouldn't be the Approve / Reject button.

Let me know if this is something you'll want to create otherwise I'll have to think something up to create proforma invoices.

thanks

hi

1. as mentioned, NO, this is not possible currently but it will be possible on next version 2.2.
2. you would need custom coding work for this.

if you need the proforma invoices to have its own area, and be "completely" separated from the others, then custom coding work is needed. there's no other way.

I have looked a bit more at the Quotation area and I have removed the Accept / Reject button from the template, so maybe we can sort of use this as proforma tool.

In any case it will be great to have the Quotation (still very useful) as a different tool than the proforma.

Now I'd like to have the email to be sent to the client a bit different. I would like to have the text of the email that says something like

"Dear Client, attached is your proforma invoice" and the PDF of the proforma is attached.

Now I have one single area to edit the pdf and email version.

    thanks

    hi

I understand, but I see no problem you doing this in Invoice Manager
    - you can use QUOTES but with a different TEMPLATE. Just create a template for "Proforma" invoices that does not contain accept/reject buttons or anything you don't need, and this will become your standard Proforma invoice.
Since the templates are completely configurable, you can use them for this.. can' you?

as for the emails: we are very close to release Invoice Manager 2.2, which includes new customizable emails function :)

I probably have not expressed myself very clearly on the 7th of april (my last response).

    My questiona are:

    1) is it possible to have one template for the email to be sent and one template for the PDF attached?
    2) is it possible to insert an area just like the Quotation but renamed Proforma?

I need to keep Quotations and Proforma separated.

    Thanks
